Early Breakfast Hunt...
This morning we got up to the sound of barking dogs. I went downstairs to the back door to yell at them. Just as I was about to open the door Wilfred yelled "There's a coyote out there!" I just let the dogs do their thing, while I stood at the door and watched the coyote. It wandered around the field without a care in the world. Pretty soon it went under this big bushy tree. I stood there watching and soon 2 coyotes emerged from the tree. They went running across the road and into our neighbors horse pen. There they chase some ravens. Pretty soon one of them took off running down the road at high speed. It was chasing a rabbit. The rabbit ducked down a hole and the other coyote came slinking up the ditch. Pretty soon one coyote flushed the rabbit out and the other took to the chase. This happened a few times before the rabbit finally became breakfast. This whole time I stood at the back door dumbfounded, without thinking I should have grabbed my camera. I could have gotten a great shot of the coyotes. (You can tell who is NOT the hunter in the family. I am thinking camera, Wilfred is thinking gun.) Wilfred went around front and watched them carry their kill to their den. The one coyote put breakfast away while the other stood on the biggest rock and took one last look around. Not five minutes later our neighborhood came alive with people. Amazing!
